The Metamorphosis Machine.

Instigating by its discoveries deep modifications in our vision of the world, science today seems to have become for the artist, the measure of his consciousness of the world he lives in. It is much less a tool for projection towards the future as it has already been, but rather one of interrogation upon the limits of human action and on the sense of this action.
As a composer and active member of a structure in the artistic field of sound creation most of my ideas and works are dominated by a deep interest in the spatiality and metamorphosis of sound. Transformations in sound happen in space, and today these two ideas at the heart of all electroacoustic music carry in themselves a concept of time flowing as never before in our conception of the world, in a non?directional way.

Time, Space and the Transformation of Matter.

There is a necessity today to tackle the sound phenomenon on a closer physical and perceptual level. Reconsidering the narrative process in a work, the idea here is to orientate the research towards an architectural conception of sound organization and diffusion. Sound is a natural phenomenon that is to be conceived and understood not only in its narrative aspects but also in its material monumentality.
Also through this work into a general acoustic art, dealing in some ways more with life?like sound images and spaces than with the concert hall, there is also a necessity as a human being to help through my art to come to a better understanding and use of the world I live in; the traditional function of the intercessor.
Being since 1991 part of the team at the GMEM - Groupe de Musique Experimentale de Marseille, as Head of Studios I tend to pursue this research there in the continuity of the work started earlier in Canada. Founded in 1969, GMEM is a structure whose activity extends to the different and complementary aspects of the process of musical creation in Marseilles:
- CREATION: The access to musical creation with tree up?to?date studios (multitrack + MIDI, digital and SYTER studios);
- RESIDENCIES: The invitation of composers?in?residence for production and realization of works involving electroacoustics;
- DIFFUSION: The diffusion of works through a series of seasonal concerts and a festival where electroacoustics neighbor other forms of contemporary musical and sound creation.

The group of member?composers who share the same working environment by representing various musical and aesthetical tendencies (ranging from instrumental music to environmental sound) place this structure at the crossroads of contemporary music and its multifaceted perspectives.
